ComScore Acquires M:Metrics

comscore.gifEnding several months of rumors and speculation, mobile measurement company M:Metrics has agreed to be acquired by internet measurement company comScore for a reported $44.3 million plus options on 50,000 shares of comScore.

With metrics and measurement being such an important part of the growing mobile internet and mobile advertising, many people have believed that M:Metrics has been ripe for acquisition for quite some time. The combination with comScore should allow the company rapidly expand the scope of its services.

Currently M:Metrics offering includes MobiLens – a monthly online survey of mobile phone usage; MeterDirect - an on-device meter that measures mobile internet behavior; and M:Ad – a service that tracks what ad are actually being run on the mobile internet. M:Metrics has also recently begun to integrate their measurement data with the TGI survey which measures consumer attitudes, motivations, and behavior.

“With the substantial growth of 3G devices and Internet friendly handsets, we believe we are now at an inflection point in Internet usage on mobile devices,” said Dr. Magid Abraham, comScore’s president and chief executive officer.
