JC Decaux Rolls Out BlueTooth Network

jcdecaux.gifBluetooth marketing seems to be growing in popularity. Just recently JC Decaux, one of the world’s largest out-of-home advertising companies, announced the roll out of a bluetooth network that will go across Australia.

The roll out is in conjunction with Breeze Tech, a bluetooth mobile marketing company located in Sydney and London.

The bluetooth download units will be added to existing JC Decaux outdoor poster displays, in order to give advertising clients a mobile component to their outdoor campaigns. This follows a developing movement to make campaigns cross media where appropriate, and also signals that bluetooth as a marketing medium is becoming more mainstream and accepted.

JCDecaux’s National Production Manager, Rose Farhart, stated “Adding Bluetooth capability to our sites was important for us to ensure we continue to challenge the conventions of outdoor advertising by offering clients interactive options to engage consumers. Many of our clients have already used Bluetooth and we want to ensure we can provide our clients with mobile capability on a national level going forward and at a cost that makes it viable”.

Initially the poster sites will be in areas frequented by football fans. The first client to use the network will be the Australian Rugby Union with a Bluetooth campaign promoting the launch of the Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series. The ARU is using Bluetooth at a number of Decaux sites throughout Sydney to increase awareness of the series by enabling consumers to dowload video clip to their phone.
