BSkyB Launches Mobile Advertising

bskyb.gifSky has announced that they will begin to run advertising on their mobile properties. For the first time brands will be able to take advantage of advertising opportunities on such sites as Sky Sports, Sky News, and Football 365. Adidas and Fiat will be the first advertisers to use the service.

Sky has selected Ad Infuse’s platform to serve the ads. The platform can use various data from the mobile operators to help deliver more relevant and targeted mobile advertising. Ads can be targeted according to several parameters, including content type and context, time of day, geographical information and in-network browsing behavior.

In the future, Sky plans to ad enable all of its mobile properties – including video services. This will offer an even wider range of creative options for brands to communicate with consumers. In addition, Sky is also now able to offer a truly integrated advertising opportunity across TV, online and mobile.

Sky has been offering mobile content to all the major UK mobile phone networks for many years, and is the largest commercial provider of news and sports content in the UK. Through its range of mobile sites and services, Sky’s content reaches more than 7 million unique users each month.

Tim Hussain, Sky’s Head of Mobile Advertising, comments: “Sky has some extremely attractive content offerings which have demonstrated real value to advertisers on TV and online for many years. By expanding our range of advertising opportunities to include mobile, we are now able to offer advertisers the seamless brand experience across the three principle platforms through which we know our customers now consume content.”

Stephen Upstone, Managing Director of European Business Development for Ad Infuse, added: “Ad Infuse is thrilled to be working with Sky in the UK. We are starting with WAP display for Sky, and are open to adding targeted advertising experiences in video, TV, messaging, applications and games, thus serving all the mobile elements in a converged digital future.”
