Mothers Love Their Smartphones For Shopping

moms-shopping-using-mobile.jpgA recent study published by mobile ad network Greystripe has found that two thirds of mothers who own an iPhone or Android smartphone use them in the shopping process.

Locating stores, comparing prices, and learning about new products are all ways that phones can make their lives easier.

In addition, the research found that mothers are receptive to advertising with 55% indicating that it plays a role in their purchasing decisions. Further, 91% said they preferr free apps with ads rather than paid apps without ads.

The study looked in detail at how Mothers use their smartphone’s with:

  • 45% using them to locate their nearest store
  • 36% using their phone for price comparison
  • 31% using their phone to search for new products

When it came to grocery shopping the study found that 42% of mothers used their Smartphone’s in the following ways:

  • 32% using their device for shopping lists
  • 21% using their device to look up recipes
  • 14% using their device to do a price comparison

“Smartphones have become the super tool for moms on the go,” said Dane Holewinski, director of marketing at Greystripe. “The majority of moms with smartphones are using those devices for their day-to-day tasks especially shopping, making them the ideal target for advertisers.”
