Argos Creates Interactive Christmas Stores In London Train Stations

argospopup1.gifHave some last minute shopping to do and tired of finding the gift you want is sold out in the stores? UK retailer, Argos, has a new, mobile-enabled way to help you save time shopping.

Argos created two Interactive stores at Paddington and Waterloo train station that allow consumers to do some last minute Christmas shopping while waiting for their train.

The Argos “Gift Box” displays various items from Argos’s very extensive catalogue. Each product also includes a 2D bar code. Consumers make their selection by using their mobile to scan the QR code for the product they want.

Scanning the barcode automatically communicates with Argos, and the product is then reserved for the customer. They can then go and pick it up from one of the 750 Argos stores around the UK.

The campaign is part of a larger Out of Home campaign planned by Kinetic and Mindshare Invention.

Andrew Brunton, Account Executive at Kinetic, said, “Following Kinetic research early this year that showed a huge increase in the recognition of mobile technologies in the UK, it’s great for Argos to break new ground with this Out of Home and mCommerce campaign. The rail environment is perfect to reach a time-poor audience where they will often be a high dwell-time.”
