Customers are given a six-digit code, via a special app, that they can then enter at a cash machine.<\/p>\n RBS said its new system, an extension of the existing service that allows customers withdraw cash without a card in an emergency, would benefit users who had forgotten their debit cards or wanted to send money to someone quickly.<\/p>\n As a security measure, the app requires a password to access initially, and then the six-digit code is hidden until the user taps the screen. This is designed to prevent potential thieves seeing the code over a user\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n Ben Green<\/strong>, head of mobile at RBS and NatWest said: “It is a really simple and secure way to help our customers get cash whenever and wherever they need it.\u201d<\/p>\n The service is available to customers via the bank’s free app and use the 8,000 RBS, NatWest or Tesco<\/strong> branded ATMs in the UK. <\/p>\n Two banks have unveiled technology that allows customers to withdraw cash from ATMs without using a bank card.
