Despite being the biggest retailer in the US, Walmart has never managed to make it in New York or other urban centers.

The @PGMobile campaign involves trucks visiting various locations in New York and Chicago featuring QR codes for several P&G products that can be bought from Walmart’s.

Users can scan the QR code in order to purchase the product through Walmart’s e-commerce platform. The vans also came with half a dozen helpers in order to explain to consumers how to use QR codes and give out free samples.

“Virtual stores” and “pop-up stores” have become more popular around the world in recent months as a new way to engage with consumers. Read about similar campaigns by Tesco in South Korea and Argos in the UK .
