Buying Spree Continues: Publicis Buys Phonevalley to Strengthen Mobile

publicis_logo.gifPublicis Groupe today announced the acquisition of Paris-based Phonevalley, a leading European agency in mobile marketing and communications. Phonevalley will become the mobile marketing arm of Publicis Groupe Media, which includes the two global media networks Starcom Mediavest Group and ZenithOptimedia.

Already present in five European countries (France, UK, Spain,
Germany, and Italy), Phonevalley will continue to implement its offering in Europe throughout the Publicis Groupe Media networks, and will service the respective clients of Starcom Mediavest and ZenithOptimedia. This acquisition makes Publicis Groupe the first global marketing group with a network committed exclusively to mobile communications.

This acquisition follows the announcement that a Publicis division – Publicis Mojo – had established a digital media company in partnership with Telstra, the Australian mobile operator. The new digital media company was set up specficially to sell tailored advertising messages and advertiser-backed content exclusively to Telstra’s Next G mobile network (see MobiAD News post).

Clearly Publicis recognizes the growing importance of mobile advertising, and is positioning themselves to provide a full range of marketing communication services utilizing mobile to their clients.
