Admob closes Series B round of funding

admob.pngAdmob, a leading mobile ad serving company, recently closed a $15million round of financing, led by Accel Partners, and including previous investor Sequoia Capital. Admob also announced some statistics on the targeting of the ads served.

Admob had announced in January that it had served 1billion ads in the previous 6 month period. (see MobiAD interview with Russell Buckley). In the subsequent 2 month period, Admob served an additional 600million ads, indicating a substantial growth for the company and for the industry.

Along with announcing the closure of the financing round, Admob also released some information about their company and the targeting of the ads they have served:

  • over 1200 ad publishers
  • viewed in over 160 countries
  • 95.2 % of AdMob ads leveraged geographic targeting
  • 63.2 % of AdMob ads leveraged behavioral or demographic targeting
  • 20.2 % of AdMob ads leveraged handset targeting by manufacturer
  • 9.1 % of AdMob ads leveraged targeting based on device capabilities
  • 3.7 % of AdMob ads were run-of-network ads running viewed in over 150 countries worldwide
