Marketing Firm Set Up by SK Telecom Parent

sktelecom.gifSK group, parent company of Korean mobile operator SK Telecom, have announced that they have set up a new marketing subsidiary to be known as SK Marketing & Company. They will offer businesses the chance to make the most of SK’s consumer database and knowledge of consumer’s habits.

“The marketing consulting firm will mainly provide clients with in-depth insight on consumer behaviour that SK has collected and analyzed over the past 10 years via OK Cashbag,” SK Marketing & Company President Lee Bang-hyung told reporters Monday.

The company data shows that SK Telecom has 22 million users, OK Cashbag has 28 million subscribers, while Nate and Cyworld have 20 million each (compared to a total population of 49 million in South Korea). The company says that it has been tracking consumer demographics and spending patterns that should be very useful when businesses are planning marketing strategies.

The new SK Marketing & Company has a target of reaching an annual revenue of 1 trillion won by 2013.
