Ogilvy UK Brings In Mobile Expertise

ogilvy_logo.gifIn a move that shows their ongoing commitment to the developing mobile advertising channel, Ogilvy UK has appointed Scott Seaborn as head of mobile technologies, with the responsibility to manage and develop mobile marketing and ad campaigns across several Ogilvy Group companies.

Seaborn will report to OgilvyOne CEO Mike Dodds, but will work with OgilvyOne, OgilvyAction and Ogilvy Advertising.

Seaborn was previously at mobile agency Magnet Harlequin, where he was responsible for creating mobile picture-recognition service Snap Happy and an m-commerce service for bookstore Borders.

Mike Dodds says: “Few people in the UK know as much about the potential of mobile marketing: he was one of its pioneers. Not only does he understand the possibilities and limitations of the technology, he also understands how it meshes with great creative ideas to provide truly engaging and useful applications.”

Seaborn adds: “Mobile marketing is still in its infancy. If it is to take off and fully realise its considerable potential it needs strong backing. I think Ogilvy, with its size, experience, heritage, technical nous, blue-chip client list and ability to take the long-term view, it is one of the few agencies placed to exploit the medium.”
