AdMob Brings Ads To Facebook Mobile

admob_facebook.gifFacebook Platform for Mobile, which was launched in late October, allows developers to build mobile web applications for the fast-growing social community. This announcement from AdMob will allow developers to monetize their applications using advertising from AdMob. Social networks are widely expected to become one of the prime targets for mobile advertising.

“It is exciting to see great new user experiences like Facebook for mobile devices,” said Omar Hamoui, CEO and Founder of AdMob. “AdMob’s mobile platform empowers advertisers and application developers to take advantage of the growth of the mobile web by serving high quality targeted ads that users will value.”

AdMob for Facebook Mobile is the first monetisation solution for Facebook Mobile developers. Developers will have access to the world’s largest mobile advertising marketplace, currently serving over 1.5 billion ads per month. Developers can start showing ads and earning money immediately.

AdMob has released a sample application here, and integration instructions can be found here.

This follows on from AdMob hiring Facebook’s Vice President of Engineering in February. In doing so AdMob has become the first to provide advertising on Facebook’s mobile platform.

AdMob has said that the platform is targeted at third-party developers creating applications for Facebook users, who will still control what type of ads appear on their applications.
