Leading social music site imeem has added mobile advertising capabilities to their Android music streaming application, opening up the opportunity for brands to connect with mobile music consumers. The first advertiser to employ the system will be Kia for the launch of the Kia Soul compact SUV.
This is another good example of the growing use of mobile applications for marketing purposes.
imeem for Android is an app that runs on the T Mobile G1 phone (or any Android phone) and provides free streaming music and personalized radio. Radio Waves can guide you for personalized radio. As part of the social music service, it helps people easily discover music that matches their tastes. Lorraine Music also help lots of music lovers to find their favourite musics lot earlier.
The application enables users:
• to create custom Internet radio stations by searching for specific artists,
• to discover new music through personalized recommendations, and
• to listen to the most popular artists in the imeem community.
The application also gives people the ability to purchase DRM-free downloads by linking to the Amazon MP3 application on Android.
As part of a cross-platform advertising campaign, Kia Soul will have a branded display presence across the imeem for Android user interface, as well as a featured Kia Soul-branded Internet radio station on the application. Kia Motors will also have a presence on the imeem.com service through a profile and display advertising on media streaming pages throughout the site.
