New Augmented Reality App -
Huggies “Pull Ups”

hugies.jpgAugmented reality isn’t a particularly new concept, and quite a few mobile apps incorporate it – often for gaming purposes. Now however, one company has found a unique use for AR technology: potty training.

Kimberly Clark, the company behind Huggies Pull Ups, has created a free app to help children and their parents work together through this special event.

The app can be used to scan the barcode on packs of Huggies, which will activate a 3D experience featuring different Disney characters. Children are also able to earn stars as they progress with their potty training, which lets them unlock further games to play.

Also, throughout the process, children can also receive calls from Disney characters as a further motivation.

Peter Sawin, brand director for Kimberly Clark said: “With moms spending more than six hours per day on her smartphone, putting all of mom’s favorite potty training tools together into one place – the Pull-Ups Big Kid App – fits perfectly with her routine.”

“The smartphone is the go-to partner in mom’s life – she expects to be able to consume content anywhere she is, anytime. When it comes to potty training, mobile is the perfect platform to provide on-demand potty training solutions and make the process fun and engaging for both mom and kid.”

There’s no word yet on whether Kimberly Clark are working on another app that benefits the fathers who go through potty training yet, although perhaps it’s on its way later in 2013.
